Uganda straddles the equator. Alhough small, it's amazingly diverse. In the south is Lake Victoria - the 2nd biggest freshwater lake in the world, and plenty of trees, green, and rainfall. As you move northward the land becomes increasingly dry, changing to deserts of stunted scrub - eventually turning into the Sahara desert in Sudan.
In the far southwest are the terraced hills of the Kigezi region, with the phenomenal Virunga volcanoes on the border of Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo. Recently Aggie and I were fortunate enough to visit this area, escaping the noise and dust of Kampala on a quick trip to the southern hemisphere. Man..I didn't expect it to be, but that is *really* humbling.
Totally awesome/beautiful.
We (us 'Westerners'), see pics/film of Africa and think immediatley of dry, arid wastelands, where its all just a shocker.
That video (yes, I noticed the timing with the Enya music), opened my eyes a bit. Africa is very pretty.
What camera did you use? Do you have a macro lens or something for those close-ups of flowers and stuff?
Was that your and Aggie's feet in the Nile River?
Were they FISH on the front of the van in the near-last shot?

Really beautiful shots! Like Tim noted, it is surprisingly beautiful. Makes me miss Uganda so much (and wish better camera technology existed when I was there!)
Breathtakingly beautiful. The land looks so lush and fertile. I'm really glad you are enjoying your new life in Uganda. You and Aggie are often with us in our thoughts.
